Moyrabandh Gram Bikash Kendra (MGBK) is a registered NGO located in Bankura district. Draught occurs in this district and the poor villagers suffer with miseries, food insecurity and acute poverty. Considering this critical situation a group of youth and relief workers came forward to form a group for rehabilitation work. Thus the organization was founded with a view to find out an alternative strategy of development in respect of disaster management, poverty alleviation, spread of education, gender equity, human rights, health care and mainstreaming the socio-culturally oppressed and economically exploited masses. Our organisation has given priority for intervention to organize people’s initiative and capacity building to change the poor socio economic situation by enhancing the sustainable development initiatives and creating a healthy civil society. It extends support to those initiatives that empower to oppressed, distressed and exploited to reach the level of understanding where they will be able to demand their rights and solving their own needs. It is a continuous effort of our organisation to work out a self-governance mechanism that can be appropriate, accessible, affordable, and manageable by the target rural peoples’ groups particularly in terms of meeting up their major needs. The foundation of the organisation and its structure is fully based on peoples’ organisations like women self-help groups, village health committees, and youth clubs, community based organisations.

Objectives of the Organisation:

  • To provide basic education for all children and elimination of child labour system from the society;
  • To provide health care and treatment facilities, medicinal aid for overall healthy livelihood development of people of weaker section communities.
  • To provide vocational training and enhance livelihood maintenance opportunities for poor women;
  • To make people aware of human rights and ensure opportunities for empowerment, irrespective of caste, creeds and tribes;
  • To extend necessary support to rural women for development of their socio economic environmental and cultural status by providing the required access;
  • To upgrade quality of life of rural and poor women through enhancement of opportunities for education, skill up gradation and income generation and organization of self-help groups, thrift savings and micro finance linkage;
  • To educate and aware village people especially women community on preventive and curative measures of health care, family planning services, reproductive and child health services STD/HIV/AIDS control etc.;
